Palliative Care

At Bothwell Castle, we provide a palliative care service at our care home in Glasgow that has been created to support residents who are in their final days, weeks or months of their lives. We also support their friends and family during this time in what is an emotional and difficult period for many.

We are proud to compassionately support individuals in the community and our dedicated care team works tirelessly to ensure residents receiving palliative care have a dignified and comfortable experience.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care, which is also referred to as end-of-life care, is for individuals who have a terminal illness or health condition and who are in the final days, weeks, or months of their life. Someone may come to the end of their life due to natural deterioration or because they have a terminal illness or health condition.

Comfort is the ultimate goal for those receiving palliative care, and the main aim in any care facility is to lessen an individual’s pain as well as any symptoms, ensure their dignity is maintained, and that their wishes are met.

Loved ones are also supported by staff, enabling residents to spend time with those close to them, and giving families the support they need to help get through this undeniably difficult period.
