Bothwell Castle Staff Attend Fashion Show in Aid of Dementia Trust Scotland

Staff Attend Fashion Show for Charity

Members of the Bothwell Castle team recently attended a fashion show event in aid of Dementia Trust Scotland. It was organised by a family member of one of our residents here at Bothwell Castle. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to support a charity close to our hearts and to meet Professor June Andrews who is the trusted advisor.

Professor June Andrews is a dementia specialist adviser and professor Emeritus in Dementia Studies, she is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, the highest honour awarded to nurses in the UK and in 2016 was awarded the OBE. June is also the author of Care Homes: The One Stop Guide and Dementia. The charity night included a fabulous fashion show followed by some live entertainment.

The purpose of the event was to raise funds and awareness of Dementia Trust Scotland and the fantastic work that they do to support people living with dementia and their carers.

This promoted team building with staff who attended the event and had a charitable goal also encouraged communication, teamwork and other behaviours that have benefits transferable to the workplace as well as strengthening bonds between the team.

A massive well done to Liz Tinto who organised the event and managed to raise a whopping £10,000 pounds on the night. The final total is a huge tribute to her organisational skills and her contacts which will benefit the Dementia Trust Scotland so enormously.

The team is delighted to have supported such a fantastic charity, whose mission is to improve the lives of those living with dementia, as is ours at Bothwell Castle Care Home near Glasgow.
