Arts & Crafts

Whether you have dabbled in arts & crafts before, or there’s never been a creative bone in your body, our arts and crafts sessions are free for anyone to get as creative as they see fit. If you would like to become a keen crafter or would rather just watch from the sidelines, you’re more than welcome to do either. Our teams are excited to help out every single step of the way.

Creativity Takes Courage

In the great words of renowned artist Henri Matisse: “Creativity Takes Courage”. Taking the step to move into a residential home is a big one indeed; one that we here at Bothwell Castle Care Home would say takes a lot of courage indeed. So, encouraging our residents to start using art and crafts to channel anything they can think of or might be feeling is a fantastic way to both engage and entertain our residents and their loved ones.

Whether you’ve never even lifted a paintbrush, or you know exactly what you’re doing when it comes to creating a masterpiece, there’s something for everyone at our regularly scheduled arts and crafts sessions.  Typically, we will have a theme and aim in mind for our sessions, such as making flower arrangements or greeting cards. We also make sure that our creating activities are appropriate for people of all ages, so you can have the opportunity to have fun with your children and grandchildren.

What You’ll Find at Bothwell Castle Care Home

All of our facilities have been designed with our lovely residents in mind, not to mention their incredible friends and families. We always want our residents to feel like they’ve found their new home away from home while staying with us at Bothwell Castle Care Home, which is why we always encourage them to follow their passions and continue doing what they love to do. At our home, all of our activities and facilities have been designed in a manner that makes them fully accessible to each and every one of our residents, and we’re happy to provide excellent levels of social, physical and psychological stimuli.

Knowing what kind of projects our residents like to take part in is essential to making sure they’re getting the very best level of care from our teams. Just recently, our lovely residents took part in a Disney celebration day, where everyone got together to create a Disney-themed collage before being visited by the Disney Princesses and Mickey Mouse himself. Whether we decide to do our arts and crafts outside in the summer, or indoors in the winter, Bothwell Castle Care Home is the perfect place to let your creativity run free.

Arts and Crafts FAQs

If you’ve got a question regarding our arts and craft sessions, you certainly wouldn’t be the first. Over the years, we’ve received lots of questions about our arts and crafts activities, so we’ve decided to compile all of our frequently asked questions and answers right here. If you can’t spot your question; don’t panic. You can always contact us directly and we’d be more than happy to supply you with the answer.

The answer to this question changes fairly regularly. What you make is essentially up to you. Of course, our Activity Coordinators will be continuously thinking of creative endeavours for our residents, from greeting cards to mosaics, but we really do encourage you to make your crafts your own.

Once you’ve created your piece, you’re more than welcome to take it back to your room with you, or even gift it to someone you love. Sometimes, the activity might involve everyone taking apart and creating something special for the care home itself, so it can be displayed for all to see. If your work catches the eye of one of our team members, we might ask if we can display it proudly around the home.

At our specialised individual arts and craft sessions, the general theme and topic is usually already decided on by our lead Activity Coordinators. However, if our residents have the creative urge to do something different, then that is certainly something that can be discussed and acted upon as and when.

Bothwell Castle Care Home is more than happy to provide our residents with the equipment and supplies they’ll need to create their masterpiece. However, if there’s something specific or niche that our residents would like to use in their designs, they’re more than happy to acquire and use those for themselves.

Exceeding Expectations at Bothwell Castle Care Home

Working together to encourage our residents is what we do here at Bothwell Castle Care Home, and believe us, we do it well. Encouraging our residents, no matter what is a significant step towards making our residents feel safe, happy and confident while staying with us. Through developing strong connections with our residents, and doing all we can to ensure they feel like they’re part of the ever-growing Bothwell Castle Care Home family, we make sure that our residents and their loved ones always see our home as theirs.

High Quality Care, No Matter What

The best part of caring for our residents is being able to give them the attention they deserve. If there’s one thing we love in particular, it’s hearing the incredible stories that our residents share with us, and finding out exactly what makes our residents light up inside and out. High quality care starts with our residents, and we always do everything in our power to make sure it stays with them too.
