Food for Kindness Initiative
At Bothwell Castle, we enjoy being part of the local community in Bothwell. In the run-up to Christmas, we have become involved in the ‘Food for Kindness’ initiative. This involves collecting tins and non-perishable items that can be gift-boxed to families and communities less fortunate than ourselves. More people than ever are struggling to afford the essentials and are having to turn to food banks to get by.
As part of the ‘Food for Kindness’ we are asking staff, visitors and visiting professionals to make a small donation towards our food boxes. Every little helps, even the smallest donation. This also fits in perfectly with Bothwell Castle's values, ‘Kind, respectful, Inclusive, Passionate and Trusted’.
The initiative is to promote community spirit, engagement and inclusion for our residents and staff.
This ties in nicely with our Autumn Harvest theme at the home. We have our beautiful harvest display within the home, handmade by our residents of Bothwell Castle in South Lanarkshire who put their creative skills to good use!
The Harvest Festival is a traditional event celebrating the successful gathering of the year's crops. Often celebrated in churches and schools, people are encouraged to donate home-grown produce, fruit, and vegetables to those in need. The Harvest Festival is a time for feasting, celebrating, and giving thanks. It is also a time for honouring those who grow and reap crops. We are planning a Harvest meal within the home to celebrate this on Thursday 10th of October 2023.
