Bothwell Castle Care Home is currently preparing to celebrate with the local community for this year’s Scarecrow Festival which runs from 27th August - 17th September 2023.

Bothwell Castle is a gold sponsor for the event and our residents and staff are preparing a fantastic scarecrow scene to reinvent the Mad Hatters Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland. The Bothwell Castle staff and residents, as well as family members, have been working hard to create costumes and props ready for the parade.

The first festival took place in September 2011 and was a resounding success and has now become a key event within the local community. Bothwell community embraced the concept wholeheartedly and was widely acclaimed as the most successful community event ever seen in Bothwell. The festival has been repeated every year and is now an established yearly event. All surplus funds from the event are donated to Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

This event promotes community spirit and engagement for our residents and staff and also encourages inclusion. The 17th of September 2023 sees the grand parade through Bothwell and our residents, families and staff will take part in the parade, dressed up in the Alice in Wonderland costumes. There will also be a Mad Hatters Tea Party for our residents, families and staff to enjoy after the parade. It's going to be so much fun and we hope to see you at the festival, and at the Mad Hatters Tea Party at Bothwell Castle Care Home!
