Bothwell Castle Care Home Celebrates ‘Very Good’ Care Inspectorate Rating

We are delighted to share that Bothwell Castle Care Home has achieved an improved rating following our latest unannounced inspection by the Care Inspectorate.

The visit was a core assurance inspection focusing on how people’s health and wellbeing benefit from the care and support they receive at our Glasgow care home. Our grade increased from 4, Good, at our previous inspection to 5, Very Good.

This achievement means a great deal to everyone at Bothwell Castle. It reflects the commitment our team shows every day, from getting to know each person and what matters to them, to noticing changes in their health and making sure the right support is in place.

Inspectors identified a number of strengths and found clear evidence that our care services have continued to improve and develop. They recognised that the changes we have made are now firmly part of everyday life at the home and are helping to create better outcomes for the people who live here.

The inspection also highlighted our proactive approach to monitoring health and our effective communication. These systems help our team respond quickly, share important information and make sure each person receives support that reflects their individual needs and preferences.

We are especially proud that all Areas for Improvement identified previously have now been achieved. Inspectors also praised our staff and management team for the progress made since our last inspection in 2025.

The Care Inspectorate is Scotland’s independent regulator for care services. It registers, inspects and grades services, while also supporting them to improve. Inspections look closely at people’s experiences and outcomes, which makes the findings an important independent measure of the quality of support a service provides. The Care Inspectorate uses a six-point scale, with 5 representing a Very Good standard.
