Santa and his Elves

Hosting a Christmas Market in South Lanarkshire

Bothwell Castle Care Home hosted a Christmas market with community involvement and staff dressed as Elves and Santa to greet visitors and there was a present from Santa for all the children who attended.

The event was to promote Bothwell Castle Care Home and raise funds for the residents’ activities. This also promoted the fantastic work that the staff do to support people living at Bothwell Castle care home.

The event was organised by the staff and residents at Bothwell Castle. This was the first event of its kind at our care home in South Lanarkshire, our residents had their own table with centre pieces to sell at the market and manned their own stall. There was a variety of different stalls including arts and crafts, a Tombola, a wild bird feeding table, and handmade Christmas decorations. Christmas Eve box goodies, there was a stall that promoted third-world countries with handmade crafts. Stalls with wax melts, there were food stalls and hot drink stalls and even a chocolate fountain stall. There were some amazing raffle prizes to be won as well.

There was Christmas music playing and carol singing by the Christmas tree where many joined in and it brought out the festive spirit in everyone. This event promoted team building with staff who enjoyed getting into character and community involvement.

A massive well done to all staff and residents who organised the event and managed to raise a whopping £962.60 on the day for our residents' fund. The final total is a huge tribute to the organisational skills and teamwork of the staff which will benefit the residents extensively.
